A residence for a young family, the Barrie Street house is built on a constricted inner city site. A high level of interior finish was specified, including French oak flooring, stainless steel and cable stair handrail, custom kitchen and built in cabinetry. Feature walls of honed, stack bonded concrete block are located in the entranceway and next to the staircase.

Exterior finishes are comprised of bevel back weatherboards, mono pitch profile metal roofing, joinery and large stacking sliding aluminium doors in the main living area.  A large aluminium operable louvre is mounted over a window on the front facade of the building.  The outdoor living area includes a cast concrete swimming pool with cascading stone water feature. The Barrie Street house received a NZIA Auckland Branch Local Award for Architecture in 2004.
