Architect: Project X

Completed within a very tight construction timeframe with difficult site constraints, the Hyundai North Harbour Dealership highlights Eagle & Franich’s expertise in mid size commercial construction.

The project is located on a site between two existing buildings that were required to remain open for the entire construction period. Recognising that the maximum reach of a mobile crane across the narrow site would be a major limitation in the speed of construction, Eagle & Franich successful staged the work by erecting two thirds of the foundations and precast concrete structure from one end of the site, then relocating equipment to the other end of the site to complete the remaining third of the structure. As the concrete wall panels also formed the primary vertical structure of the building, they had to be positioned with precision and then required extra propping for stability after placement.

The exterior of the building features a two storey glazed façade and the primary cladding is Alucobond composite panels and fascia.  The end walls of the building are clad in faceted lightweight concrete Flexus facade panels and full height banks of black anodized aluminium louvres. The ground floor interior encompasses a reception area and spacious car showroom with polished porcelain tile floor. The boardroom on the mezzanine level features an elliptical glazed wall with vertical stained American Oak screen curving out over the reception area.
